The owner, Suellen Kruse, is a former banker and transplant from Minneapolis. She and her partner, Jeanne Schlosser opened the Gallery in June 1989. Although Jeanne is now deceased, Suellen and several loyal helpers keep the Gallery going year round. Even though the Gallery is in Lutsen, she enjoys living right on the Shore 17 miles North with her three dogs, a cat and a parakeet.
In addition to the Gallery and Cottages, Suellen is active in the community and volunteers her time with the North Shore Health Care Foundation, the Grand Marais Art Colony and her church. She was the director of the Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery in Grand Marais from 1991 to 1999.
Kaila, a shih tzu, is known as the Gallery Greeter and she delights in the attention that visitors enjoy giving her. She often finds one of her toys and brings it out to have someone play with her while they shop. One of her favorite words is lunch!
